Julius

"Of course, what kind of a gentleman I would be if I let anyone go alone through such treacherous wilderness. I, Count Julius Richter, promise that no harm will come to you." He made an oath, introducing himself to the young lady. He would guard her with his life, so it was only appropriate to fully introduce himself. But he also expected her name in return. "Your name, young lady?"
AKATSUKI

"Ah, that is... My name is Akatsuki. Thank you!" she said with another deep bow. A billion thoughts occurred to her, like if they'd accept the coinage he'd given her, if she needed to bring her own bags, how many groceries she could stack on her rigging before it became difficult to carry home, but mostly...

She had no idea where any stores were. She would definitely have to rely on Julius.

"T-then, do you have things you'd like to leave in your room, or do you want to wait a little, or should we go right now?" She asked, not wanting to be disrespectful. For all she knew he'd been walking all day and may need to sit down before heading out. She could not be discourteous to a nice man trying to help her!

...Who was also a customer, she added, attempting to put herself in an innkeeper mindset.

Sakagami Kenzo

Kenzo's spirit was in the middle of breaking when suddenly, he felt something soft and warm behind him. He yelped in wide eyed surprise, but before he knew it, two arms were tightly wrapped around him. The oni's heart raced as if it was trying to burst, his legs went weak and his body trembled.

She... it had been so long since anyone held him like this. He had almost forgotten how warm it was. Something began to swell in his throat, an aching he did not feel since long ago. He would not cry. No matter what, he would not cry. But maybe if he let it out a little, it wouldn't be so bad...

"I'm sorry. *sniff* I..."

And for the smallest, most insignificant of moments, Kenzo was happy.
ALPHA THE BLOODEDGE

Alpha almost hoisted him for a suplex, but heard him speak in a calm, tired tone. She sighed and let go of him, almost sad that she couldn't administer the shock anymore.

"You calmer now?" She asked idly, before scratching her head and shifting awkwardly on the spot. "Look... All the stuff you said earlier. What you could be doing wrong or whatever, it doesn't matter. Whether you do things right or wrong, sometimes it won't matter and life, or luck, or whatever just wants to screw with you. You just need to stand up and not let yourself get screwed with. Because if you don't, well..."

You're half dead, your arm's missing, your family was just torn from you and you're just sitting there and taking it instead of getting up, she almost said. Instead, she improvised with something less personal.

"If you don't get up, you're face down in the dirt getting crushed by whatever life's giving you instead of getting up and shaking some of it off." Alpha closed her eyes and squeezed them with her fingers for a bit. "At least, that's the best way I can put it. So get up, shake it off and keep going."

Alpha finished with a huff, and a personal note that she was essentially done cheering this guy up. In truth, she wasn't even sure why she did it, why she told him things she told herself more than once.

Maybe she needed to blow of steam, to shake some things off herself.

Sakagami Kenzo

The demon staggered and nearly fell over before somehow regaining balance. He gripped his forehead and let out a pained sigh, as if there was a gigantic headache he was trying to soothe with no avail.

"I don't get it." He muttered. "What am I missing? What am I doing wrong? I just wanted to share a drink normally, why can't i even do that? Why does this keep happening to me... why, why, WHY!?"
ALPHA THE BLOODEDGE

Alpha almost immediately made fun of him, but refrained when she noticed the genuine distress on his face. He must have been having a really shitty time, she reasoned, to look like that.

A real shitty time and poor stress management, she corrected herself.

Alpha sighed. A situation like this, even if she were to try speaking to him, he'd immediately just bite back. She needed to shock him into listening.

Alpha came up behind him and wrapped her arms around him, position her legs and knees properly for what she was about to attempt.

Fridge? What was that? Some kind of Oriental cellar with supplies? And wait, she didn't plan to venture alone into the wilderness just like that? He knew that the city was far away from here.

"Do you plan to go the city on your own? It could be dangerous to go through the wilderness alone. Let me escort you on the way, young lady." The nobleman insisted on following the girl. He might have been a guest, but it was also his calling to help out anyone who could be exposed to danger. So he couldn't just wait for her here doing nothing.
AKATSUKI

"Ah, no, I..." she said as a reflex, until a sinking realization hit her.

She had never left the forested area. She had no idea which direction she should even go to reach the city, much less to find a grocery store.

She fidgeted in place for a moment, and did another bow.

"P-please lend me your guidance!"

Rikuyo

The redhead couldn't much about the fact that he just picked up her to carry around. She didn't want to be pampered, but again, she couldn't resist in such state. Looking grumpy, she retorted: "I don't know any. There was one, but he's dead. Some demon asshole got him..." Remembering Richard's death also didn't help improving her mood.
RAGNA THE BLOODEDGE

"Demons? Geez, what a town," he mumbled, as he walked off. He'd never really fought a true demon, as the rumors that the red devil was spliced with a devil were just that, rumors. "Nothing to do about it, we'll just have to wing it."

Ragna walked out of the establishment carrying the girl as if it was the most normal thing in the world, and walked off in search of a doctor's place.

The nobleman recognized that form of greeting as he was not only a warrior, but also a man of learning. The girl must have hailed from the Orient, and while he only read about the customs of Far East, he knew enough to judge her manners as proper. It seemed that she was instilled with proper upbringing, yet it seemed like she didn't have much experience with taking care of guests as it looked she was a bit anxious about it. So, was she a newcomer as well after all, presumably moving to relatives who were away right now? He naturally bowed slightly to greet her back, and followed her. The inn didn't look like a palace, but it had its oriental and rustic charm. At some point, the young lady asked him if he requires a supper.

"Oh, yes, I would be grateful for that." He responded. But, it was kinda problematic. Yes, he was a guest, but he could not hoist whole burden on a minor. On another hand, he really had no clue how to prepare anything else then what he could hunt down in a forest.
AKATSUKI

Akatsuki felt a bit of sweat form on her face. Her cooking experience was not too high. At most she could make some mild curry.

Akatsuki felt a lot more sweat form when she remembered that Kenzo had used all of their food to make a feast that had fallen apart.

"O-of course, mister customer, I'll bring you a meal as soon as possible. Though I re, uh, I'm sorry to say that the fridge is currently empty and I will have to go shopping for ingredients," she threw out as best as she could. "I am very sorry for the delay!"

She halted in the middle of guiding him to his room and gave a very deep bow.

Sakagami Kenzo

The oni yelped in surprise as he was dragged like a sack of potatoes out of he bar with dashing speed. He did not even realize what was going on despite the fact he was running along, and by then only two thoughts crossed his mind.

How dare you, trash.

How romantic.

A single phrase escaped his lips, like a tired melancholic sigh. "Let me go."
Alpha The Bloodedge

They'd run for a fair bit before Kenzo spoke up, and alpha slowed down and complied, her breathing a little fast.

"Sorry about that, Kenzo," she said without a hint of remorse in her voice. "Kind of forgot I had no money to give them."

She shrugged, and let out a sigh. Well, so long as they both got out of there alright.

8
Rikuyo

"H-hey, wait!" The redhead mumbled out as the white haired man was about to leave the place. He ordered her around like that and then just left? She had no money to stay there nor she could dine and dash! She stood up, and started him following again. "Are ya leavin' already? C'mon, we barely met!"
RAGNA THE BLOODEDGE

He'd barely turned around for a second and she'd gotten up again.

"Geez, are you serious?" He looked at her again and scratched his head. She was just going to make her injuries worse. "Okay, you know what? Stand still, even if I know that's hard for you."

He might as well know where the doctors in this city were, anyway. He's had to need a few in his own time.

Ragna walked up to her, put a hand around her shoulder, and hoisted her off her legs in a carry.

"Alright, let's go find a doctor. Know any, or am I going to have to ask people off the street?"

Sakagami Kenzo

No.

A chilled shiver ran down Kenzo’s body. He didn’t want this. He didn’t wish for any of this. He had just wanted to connect with her, to talk to someone. But just as he was about to reach her, she slipped away just like everyone else. No matter what commandment he’d use, he could not in the end form a bond. Not even with her.

No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.

The oni’s voice was shaking, his eyes began to water. It was much like a child who had just been yelled at by his mother for a reason he did not understand. He begged, but it was already too late.

« I… I didn’t…I just…I’ll do anything…I’ll…”

And suddenly, something in his eyes snapped. Deep down, he knew the truth, he always had. Sakagami Kenzo was a strange being, one who was many things. But he was not stupid. Deep down, he had always known the truth, he had only chosen to be blind to it, to ignore it and walk away.

What Alpha had said and done was far from extreme, but it was the culminations of years after years of suffering. The straw that broke the camel's back.

He knew that look fully well. The look that Alpha gave him, the same that Oka gave him, the only look anyone ever gave him. He was quite familiar with those eyes. Fear, disgust, hate, annoyance, impatience, dislike, anger… he knew those all too well. He could see through their excuses and petty lies, through their disgusting deceit.

Humans were such ugly, petty, deceitful creatures...

He had simply chosen to smile and shrug it off to make the pain go away. He knew that, and he knew that nothing would change. Seasons change, tastes change, but people… people never change. He wouldn’t change, because Kenzo was Kenzo and humans were humans. The two were mutually exclusive.

One could only be what one was; therefore the fact that Kenzo could never be human was only logical. But deep down, he had hoped that somehow, anyhow, things would change. That at least someone, ANYONE would accept him.

That was why he had endured this humiliation all this time, of living all alone in an universe where he wasn’t even alive. The demon giggled like it was a funny joke, but his heart was only bleeding. That is, if a wretch like him had a heart to begin with.
Alpha the Bloodedge

What's wrong with this guy?

He had come on pretty strong, but fell apart into an emotional nightmare as soon as he was even lightly pressed. Even now he'd stuttered a bit wildly at her and then made a super hard face. Alpha couldn't help but think she'd accidentally crushed a nerd's efforts at upping his self-esteem.

Well, those were his problems. Without a word, Alpha started to leave.

"Hey you!" The bartender shouted after her. "You haven't paid for your drinks!"

Alpha froze and looked back at the bartender, who had pulled out a steak knife. Meanwhile a lot of the patrons had also risen from their seats as well, cracking knuckles, chanting somberly or pulling out folded japanese steel.

A specifically large man with a bald head walked up to her.

"You and yer friend here..." He said with a heavy accent. "Y'all got no idea who owns this here place, do you?"

Alpha registered it in an instant. "You and yer friend." And an instant was all it took for her to take action.

"Nope!" She immediately kicked the man with the full force of a counter hit standing kick, ramming him into the wall, and grabbed Kenzo. "We're leaving!"

She pulled on him and started running before the rest of the patrons could pile in on her.

A certain patron, a man who hadn't risen, sat in the corner and wore a dark expression, noticed she was smiling, and coughed out a laugh.

Again, there seemed to be no one other than the child there. If it was an inn, then her parents must have been away or something was amiss. This young girl spoke like she was a bit confused what to do. It would be rude of him to question her what happened here. But if he were to guess, maybe she were practising fencing with some relative. She held a sword, she was not bleeding and her clothes bore sings of cuts. Surely whomever she fought with held back against her. But if that was the case, her relatives were now away, and the girl before him looked somewhat lost about what to do. Children usually helped their parents run such establishments, so maybe she was recently entrusted to her relatives? If she was an orphan then he'd better not ask her about her parents, certainly that would open wounds.

"Ah, then I found the right place." The nobleman answered the question. This sounded like a calm place where he could collect his thoughts without tumbling down a cliff again. And the girl was all left alone. No way he would leave anyone alone in such wilderness. He reached for his pouched filled with golden coins and presented it to the girl, smiling: "Will that be adequate, young lady?" People who cared about money might have scoffed at his display of generosity, but he feeled like patronising this establishment. He doubted many visitors have graced this inn with their presence given its remote location, so he bet they were more in need of money than he was.
Akatsuki

Akatsuki walked up to him and took the money, not entirely sure how much it was worth in this place. Was it a lot? Was it normal? It looked pretty shiny, so there was no way this was a small amount.

Akatsuki remembered her manners, and fought to recollect the perfect procedure when visiting admirals came by and needed help. Usually Houshou would do so, but all the shipgirls were trained in the art just in case.

"O-of course it'll be satisfactory!" She said stiffly yet energetically, giving a japanese bow followed by a show of a hand. "I-if you follow me, I'll show you to your room."

She started walking in a more awkward way than necessary, heading towards the larger suites and occasionally looking back at the man, before remembering an essential.

"Will you be requiring supper?"

11

Rikuyo

"Ah, geez, you're stubborn, I told ya I'm fine-" Rikuyo paused as finally the adrenaline rush wore off and fatigue caught up with her. Her vision blurred as her body was that much weakened after getting crushed by that goddamn puppet. "Okay, you win..." She complained as she was grumpy about giving in to her injuries. She limped towards the seat and finally did what he told her, even if she didn't like being ordered around.
RAGNA THE BLOODEDGE

Ragna sighed as she sat down.

"Look, I'm not trying to be an asshole. But sometimes..." Ragna looked down at his hand. "Sometimes, if you don't take care of yourself, no one will."

He turned around and started walking, waving back at her.

"See you around, Rikuyo," he tiredly said.

Sakagami Kenzo

Kenzo muttered under his breath, as if to engrave the name into his mind. "Arufa Brodduedji..."

The oni smiled. He liked her, and he liked the name. It was very pretty, which suited her well. A drink was finally presented to him, which he accepted gladly. With one full swing he chugged down more than half of the glass before slamming the glass down and letting out a relieved sigh.

"Sakagami Kenzo. I've been here for, um... I think it's been about forty-three days?"

His russet eyes analyzed the shiro shoujo with absolute attention, piercing every nook and cranny of her body as if to understand something. He seemed confused about something, or curious.

"You're not a human Arufa, are you?"
Alpha the bloodedge

Forty three days. The words carried with them the power of heavy consideration for Alpha. If he'd been here this long and managed to, well, manage, he must have had help. Then again, by his scruffiness, he could have been squatting for all she knew.

She was about to ask him when he bluntly asked his next question.

"Geez, what is with today and that topic," she grumbled, scratching her hair. "Look, I don't care what I am in your eyes. To me, I act human, I get hungry like a human, and I get pissed like a human. I'm a human no matter which way I see it."

She chugged her drink in a single go, abandoning her idea of questioning him. She just wasn't in the mood anymore.

"So, unless you had a reason for bothering me, I'm going to go," She said, getting off of her seat with her hands on her hips in a way that screamed 'well, out with it'.

13
Sakagami Kenzo

The oni sighed and looked down on the table. Immediately, the tension dropped and everything seemed to have gone back to normal. Kenzo pondered for a while before closing his russet eyes. Then, he bowed his head apologetically.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have let it get over my head like that." He said calmly. "Yeah, I met him before. I fought him yesterday actually, but I wasn't able to land a decisive blow. I guess I was too soft, I couldn't bring myself to..."

For a moment, he seemed sad. Something was clearly troubling him, but he shook his head and smiled the same friendly smile from before.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to bother you with my stupidity. What's your name?"
Alpha the Bloodedge

This guy... What an emotional rollercoaster.

"...I'm Alpha the bloodedge," she finally said after some hesitating. She usually wouldn't want to spread her name to the crazies, but this guy just looked like he's had a bad day. "Don't wear it out."

She took another sip and sighed. She may as well start looking here.

"So, how long have you been in this place?"

14
Rikuyo

"Oh, where are ya goin'?" The redheaded girl started following Ragna as she had nothing better to do. It wasn't night yet and she was clearly bored, in spite of the pain she had to go  through. What were few broken ribs? "What's up with that white hair? Ya ain't a geezer. I know, are you bleaching it?" Rikuyo continued to bother him with a small talk. "And don't worry for me, I'll manage! See, I'm fine!"
RAGNA THE BLOODEDGE

He tried walking out, but the girl behind him followed, asking questions and being bothersome.

"Geez, shut up," He growled, halting his steps looking back at her. Even at her affirmation she was alright, there was no way that could be the case. "Look, it's obvious you're not feeling too hot. Let me guess, broken ribs? Internal bleeding? Take a seat."

Ragna stood in place, making it clear he wasn't going anywhere until she sat down and let herself get taken care of.

Julius

"Greetings, young lady. My apologies for intruding, I was curious why there was an inn in such remote place." Child or adult, a true gentleman should respect others regardless of their age.
AKATSUKI

Akatsuki stood there a moment, considering what she should say. She could act like she owned the inn, and invite him in as a customer. She could say it wasn't hers, and explain she was just resting here. Or she could say it was abandoned, and she was using it as a secret hideout.

But what if Kenzo actually held the inn like a normal inn? She couldn't just let a customer get away while he was gone.

"Aha, yes, the inn is open. Were you hoping to stay the night?" She asked in a somewhat awkward tone.
