What? For a second, he was surprized. He knew well of that man, though he had never met him. Well, a piece of him did, one that belonged to him and that he observed for quite some time. But it was strange, he should not be alive presently.

Unless he was not dead in the present time either. Interesting. He was grateful, this was more help than she would possibly ever realize.

"I see. Very well, I will leave you with that task then. You seem to be acquainted with this man." He told her passively, granting her no praise.

And then, he stepped forth and locked eyes with her, clasping his hands around hers.

"I trust you."

That man was truly infuriating. No, what was infuriating was how he'd think he had a grasp on the situation only for it to slip out of his fingers. That was an utterly insufferable motion to the warrior, the fact that he did not have control.

He almost felt like laughing, to the point he managed to break a bitter smile. How laughable, and the worst part was he couldn't deny a single thing. But what of it.

"Ho?" His face was as cold and hardened as ever, but even then there was a hint of curiosity in his glare. That alone was terrifying in its own way.

"Hrm. I had little control over it. It was meant to draw attention and excitement from the masses. While it lacked in substance, I suppose it was adequate for its purpose." He answered the man shrewdly. Somehow, it seemed that he had changed in more ways than one. Perhaps it was because he could feel his time growing dire, or perhaps something else happened.

His fist squeezed as if impatient. Had he grown tired of waiting by now? How many years had he ran in circles going after his tail already? No more.

Either way, he had no humor left for jests. "Was there a problem with it?" He asked the mage with an intense glare.

The ninja glared at the dog, the sort of look that shot a thousand arrows. In response, the dog just shrugged with a shit eating grin.

"I oppose this idea."
"I'm totes cool with this idea!" The two said in unison.

"H-hey!" The ninja glared and looked angry, but it was the sort of anger pointed at himself and the situation at hand. It was pretty clear he was completely out of his comfort zone. But despite that, he mastered himself and walked up to the  blue haired woman and held out his hand.

"Name's Ito. It's nice to meet you." He told her, and while he sounded rough around the edges it didn't make every single word of his any less true.

Only for a playful paw to slam on his butt, causing him to flinch with wide eyes and clenched teeth. "Mwahahahahaha! See!? It wasn't that hard pal."

"Ehhh? No way!" She called Alice back to answer to her question, only to puff proudly when she mentioned her noble quest, as if she had any part in it. "I don't think it's that strange myself! Why, who wouldn't walk around these parts whenever they had the chance? The air is simply refreshing!" Despite being something that should be said with sarcasm, she sounded completely and utterly genuine and even smiled as brightly as she could.

"C'mon, don't lie.You were having a birthday party weren't you, you sly dogs. I won't tattle if you share the cake." She gave the man a playful nudge before rolling back towards Alice. The ninja was very confused by this. "Huh?" Was all he could manage to muster with a frown, which the dog found quite honestly hysterical. Oh, this would be fun.

"Wuh. Didn't hear me or something?"

Good grief. He honestly didn't have it in him to resist, but to think she'd resort so quickly to violence. If this had been his old body, he'd probably be dead by now. Oh just how was he supposed to deal with someone like her...

"Ow ow ow... that hurt." He groaned, his face more like a hurt puppy despite being completely unscathed. "Fine, fine. You win. You're just too strong for me, I have no chance against you." He told her truthfully, though he seemed oddly content about it.

"How much delicious food will it take for you to forgive this punk?"

Damn, it was a shame. He liked the weight of his pockets, but even that wasn't going to last.

"I wonder." He didn't seem to acknowledge William much, then again it was hardly special treatment. There wasn't a single person he didn't hold in some level of disdain. One might as well call it tough love.

"You're wasting breath. Why don't you get to the point?"

Blackmore

"Of course. But what kind of food? There is so much this city has to offer. You don't look like someone with very refined taste." He told her with a vicious grin. When they locked stares, it almost seemed like lightning was shooting out of their eyes. Or perhaps, in her case, it was literal.

"What about my good friend here, can she eat too?" He slapped the purplehead lightly on the back, but if she wasn't careful she might just plant her face on the ground. Then again, it was considerate for him to hold back.

Other times, he'd just snap their backs from the getgo. It was very vexing...

"Heh, you better not go back on your word!" He told Ellie with a wolfish grin before chanting. But just as he was in the middle of it, Nep started talking crap and completely got him out of the groove.

"Tch, don't interrupt me! Aaah, now I forgot where I was. Damnit..." He cursed, how impudent! It had nothing to do with practicality, this was about style.

He forgot where he was or what he said afterwards, not like it mattered. It wasn't about using a specific magical chant more than the ritual in the first place, the act of using words to empower his magic was enough by itself to force it out.

There was a sudden explosion of fire and light, blowing everything around the pirate away as a massive burning wreckage literally tore off the earth, sending the three flying in the air. Once the light was faded, the ship was already sky high, making the city look small in comparison.

For anyone able to sense magic, something like this was honestly scary, it was like being surrounded by nothing but mana, thick to the point it could take another shape. It was no different than being litterally in the mage's heart.

"Oof, summoning magic like that is easier said than done. You kids need to learn and appreciate the larger things in life." He grabbed a handful of popcorn from his bag before munching it down the endless inferno that was his burning stomach.

"So, anywhere you want to go?"

"Uh? Nah. Just felt like being polite for once." She turned to the nun before going up to the two, sniffing the air. Nice, very nice. He liked their eyes, and their smell was pretty exciting. That man in particular got her all bothered a little, her scent was so familiar.

It was a shame she couldn't turn back right now. She could have some fun with the guy. Urghhh, what a pain! Just how was she supposed to get off now that all her mooks were dead?

Meanwhile, the ninja could only look at the scene in pure disbelief, the confusion as clear as ever. He wasn't frightened, but it was really hard to look composed when listening to something so ridiculous.

A talking... dog?

In turn, the dog grinned. "Ooooo! Scared? Don't worry, I won't bite ya." Yet, she forgot to add. "Name's Costin, as you heard. Now what are you two doing in this dump of all places?"

The ninja fell silent. The hound looked exactly like the one in the picture, but a talking mongrel? No, there had to be some sort of mistake. Perhaps he should present her to his contractor first...

The ninja winced at the girl's words, though it was hard to tell if he suddenly turned angry or was like that all along. "Tch. You expect me to believe something like that? Grow up." He dismissed her, or at least, its what he'd have liked to do, but something about the way he was looking at the corpses made it clear there was more to it than that.

"If you are telling the truth, this isn't good. Damn, why do you brats always keep roping me into problems I want nothing to do with..." He cursed and kicked a rock  off his path. In the end, he cursed his uselessness at not being able to do anything about this. Living or dead, butchered meat still required a butcher. Was that all there was to him? Pathetic.

He should've been faster. If he had known, he'd have been able to save them. At the very least, he'd let their remains rest peacefully.

"Well, if you're done here, I won't tell you to stick around. Scram, I've got bodies to dig." He said, grabbing hold of one of them before trying to assemble them in one spot. This might take some time.

After the task was done, the former assassin went back the way he came without much trouble. During the whole burial, his expression had been silent, without any trace of anger or sorrow. He was used to corpses already, but he felt that for a man like him to live, the least he could do was respect the dead. Besides, he had no complaints. Dirty work like this suited trash like him just fine.

But his calm expression turned grave and angry when he came back only to find her the same place he left her. Seriously, was he supposed to babysit her or something?

"I told you to scram. You don't belong here." He sounded upset at the fact she stuck around, like he just saw something in a place that didn't suit it in the first place. But even barely knowing her, he could tell she was the sort who wouldn't listen no matter how much he complained.

"Whatever. It's your life, your choice." He finally gave up, or maybe he didn't want to fight this possibility from the get go. But then, his eyes shifted to the other side of the tunnel. It seemed they had company.

Just great.

Costin

The dog grinned peevishly. "Hmmmm, that makes me the boss though doesn't it? Ha, not that I mind. Just don't expect me to take your complaints missy, you could have stopped this. Muhahahahaha!"

And so she led the useful holy girl along, casually chatting some more about stupid and useless things she felt like talking about. Ah, right! She remembered seeing them earlier, kinda forgot about that already. But shoot, if they looked just about done, that meant that her zombies...

Oh well. No point in shedding tears now. She'd find sturdier bodies to make her boy band with, and then she'd take the world by storm! If they couldn't handle this much, then they probably wouldn't be able to make good music to begin with.

"Yo!" She called the two bozos out, holding her paw out like she was waving despite her canine form.

The ninja raised a brow and looked at Irene with a strange curious look. He had never heard of such a thing, the one person he knew of who was supposedly able to reanimate the dead was one of his cousins, but it ended up being a gimmick. Could this be the same?

"Vampire?"

Vanguard's glare didn't fade, but it did seem to grow more curious despite his somber tone.

"I didn't say otherwise. Even if that was my intention, I lack the power or means to oppose you, or a tangible gain to do so. If I can get what I want, I don't care about playing along with your games. I'm fine with being a tool, William."

"Whether you achieve victory or not is up to you abilities. Be more confident in yourself, you have the strength to afford this luxury."

"Wow, you actually want to come back to this dump? You really are a hopeless idiot aren'tcha?" She sighed and just accepted the hug, though shereally just wanted it to end as soon as possible. Jeez, this was sorta getting creepy and unhealthy. Was she a morality lesson incarnate or something?

All that was left was for her to start rambling about friendship and justice in order to turn into a sappy manga main character.

"Well, whatever. You've gotten this far, so why not?" She began to walk, leading the girl along. "Say, have you even decided on a name for your cult thing?"

Sadly for the girl, the dog's attention span wasn't that great. Or maybe, and much more likely, she didn't care about what she had to say. Sheesh, if you can't put something in 10 words or less its probably not important anyways. Besides, girls were cuter when they were quiet or screaming, and right now she was being neither. Not only was what she said probably whitewashed and stupid, but she likely couldn't make it engaging.

Why would she humor such retarded ramblings? Even if she did listen to them, she'd probably dismiss them as such anyways. God, humans were so stupid sometimes.

"Um, sure. Whatever you say. Can you let go now? If I wanted a lecture I'd be in school."
