Well, I mostly play strategy games, both turn-based and also RTS. I tend to play Supreme Commander (or, rather, Forged Alliance) quite a lot with my friends online (although I don't play much single player).

RPGs and fighting games, but I'm not that good on the latter, heheheh...

Since I lack any kind of gaming console and my PC isn't that powerful, I also only tend to play PC games or old ones (read: which my computer can emulate).

i love rts, but you can rarely find really good ones anymore, i love castlevania and metroid style games. and rpgs are my lock for most played, you have a fav series Gab?

For me it's tied between Pokémon and Megami Tensei. I just started at Megaten but I'm already liking it very much. I tried to get into Final Fantasy, finished playing the first one but gave up on the second. Not to my taste, sadly.

final fantasy 2 sucks, play 6 (that's 3 on the super nintendo) it's a master piece.

smt is cool, lotta smt games on the hand helds, i love them all.

i like digimon more then pokemon though.

Digimon is a better franchise in world building, characters and anime, but Pokémon takes the cake in gaming. Digimon games are okay, but not awesome.

digimon innovates Gab, and seriously the dawn and dusk games blow pkm out of the water, it took the pkm formula and expanded it.

Dawn and Dusk are the best, that I confess (though Digimon World 2 will always be my favorite, handsdown), but I personally don't think that it's better than Pokémon games, but then again, lolopinions.

well pokemon is a collector game, and imo the designs have steadily gotten ridiculous.

Yeah, as I said, Digimon is better at worldbuilding (one true partner > countless mons at your disposition) but the designs were ALWAYS ridiculous (Koffing, Voltorb and Magnemite, for example).

What sort of RTS do you like to play?

yeah, still the designs have lost realism as they've gone on, plus the number of "legendary" pokemon is a bit crazy

warcraft (NOT WOW) star craft, C&C, like that

warcraft (NOT WOW) star craft, C&C, like that

Ah, OK.

I was never too fond of Starcraft, honestly, it seemed to involve too much micromanagement and too much rapid clicking....

there honestly isn't that much.

I've played it, it certainly seems like there is. I do have quite a low threshold for what counts as "micromanagement", though....

In general, I like games where I have to think, not where the victor is basically the guy who can click fastest, which is how Starcraft always seemed (although not as bad as some games).

no, it's not a click to win game, it's a strategy game, there's a lot of strategy, what you're thinking of is the zerg rush, that's the way their race works. quick build, and borg like.
Title: Re: what do you play?
Post by: Cherry Lover on April 16, 2013, 10:38:02 PM
Well, Zerg rushing is an example of that, yes, but the way the game is played seems to be very rushy in general.

I guess it's just the impression I got, maybe because of the people I played it with. Also, like I said, I'm very adverse to games which require a lot of clicking, because I'm not very quick at it....

it's not, not unless that's the strategic manuver you choose, you'd like the protoss they are slow but powerful.
Title: Re: what do you play?
Post by: Cherry Lover on April 16, 2013, 11:02:15 PM
I did usually play Protoss when we played it, yeah.

We used to play it at LAN parties, but it's quite a long time since we stopped playing it, and I can't remember exactly why we did. Possibly I'm just mis-remembering somewhat....

Title: Re: what do you play?

Yeah, I know. Like I said, I did tend to play Protoss (or sometimes Terran), although I mostly used to spam carriers....

Yeah, the Digimon games can be pretty hit or miss. Even if the main games are somewhat formulaic, there's a reason the Pokemon franchise has lasted as long as it has, and with as minimal changes to the basic formula that it has. :) Some of the spinoff games are pretty fun too, like Pokemon Conquest for instance. Digimon has a special place in my heart too though, even if for the first 4 seasons of the anime (I think 3 is the best though :) ).

As for me, I mostly play RPGs of some type, though I'm especially fond of Tactical RPGs, though I have absolutely no problems with turn based or action RPGs. :D I like stuff like Harvest Moon as well, or fun platformers or fighting games as well. :D I'm into all sorts of things. :3 ...We should probably set up some sort of casual Melty Blood Tourney at some point, that might be pretty fun. :3

It would seem so. :D I'm not too surprised, since Season 3 is well written and very entertaining to watch, especially for what's considered a kid's show.  ;D

I like to play a lot of styles, but RPGs are my favorites. I also love strategy games (such as AoE, Warcraft, SWGB). I've never had a console, so everything I played come from emulators, and what my computer can handle, so, pretty much Zsnes, GBA and PJ64 are what the majority of the games I played are in.

I've already played the whole series of Megaman X, including Zero and ZX. Castlevania is also cool, but I've only played three for GameBoy (Circle of the Moon, Aria of Sorrow and the one with Just and Maxim). I liked them all A LOT, I've done like 8 runs in each one, since I remember util now!

Visual Novels, RPGs... Action games... Armored Core!  Mech games in general, though I can't afford much.  Fighting games, are always good, like Street Fighter.  Megaman games, Metroidvania games... SOME bullet hell games, though not much... Sometimes platforming adventure, but it depends.  Visual novels if I can afford them, as well.

FPS games usually make me sick, except for the Metroid Prime games... or, for some reason, Warhammer 40k: Space Marine.  Weirdly enough, though, I can watch Let's plays of them without difficulty.  Star Fox 64, and Assault also do a good job of leaving me sick after a while.

Tons of RPGs, such as the Lunar series, the Final Fantasy series, the Pokemon series (including Mystery Dungeon series), the Digimon World series (including DDBC), the Grandia series, the Atelier series, the Disgaea series (along with most Nippon-Ichi Software games), the Tales series, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, the Dynasty Warriors series, the Samurai Warriors series, the Musou Orochi series, the .hack series (including GU), the Valkyrie Profiles series, and so much more. (=_=)

Several Fighters, such as the King of Fighters series, the Guilty Gear (X) series, the Melty Blood series, the Justice Academy series, the Soul Caliber series, and a few others.

Not so many VNs, but I do like the Gyakuten Saiban series. "THAT'S A CONTRADICTION!" O_O

And, of course, the Touhou Project series. ^^'

...and Mabinogi. o 3o

Generally strategy games as of late, but I feel urge to return back to RPG genre. Also Castlevanias are my latest fascination.

I play mostly strategy games, yeah, and some puzzle games and occasionally other types of game. Europa Universalis is the main one right now, though.

I typically play RPGs... and I can't believe I've been gone from this site for so... bloody... long!

Now, where was I? Oh, right! I play games like Final Fantasy, true, but I also play games like the Shin Megami Tensei metaverse and Super Robot Wars J(udgement).

I play pretty much anything that I deem worth to play. But my main genre are RPGs and MMOs. I'm a little bit less picky when it comes to those 2 and I'll typically try out a lot of stuff.
