Of Swords and Sorcery: Through fire and flames.

The golden king laughs, pulling his false arrow from the boy’s head, and his arrogance begins to pick up steam as the wart tightens her grip on the fairy blade and the blacksmiths draw their identical twin swords.

I am not amused.

The priest and white haired nun move back behind the gold plated warrior, the girl noticeability bothered by the murder that had apparently occured in front of her. The hard continuous clacking against the church's concrete steps draws my attention, caused by the footsteps of the magus killer and the shadow woman as they run to the battle. But, they won’t make it in time.

As I said, I am not amused.

The boy’s body lurches up, already sealing the wound. Human bodies are fragile and awkward, but the boy has been trained and Gilgamesh, so-called king of men, is nothing but a man.

“Were he my son, Saber, he would at least have made it within arm's reach of me. Sadly a faker’s son is a faker as well”, Gilgamesh says, drawing some blade or other from his gate of stolen weapons.

“Actually, that is the wart of Pendragon, Saber is the man in the dark armour at the entrance”, I say, correcting him, as I place my hand on his shoulder.

He whirls around and blood and sparks erupt from the boy’s body as I divert the blade. He opens his worthless maw and I jam my finger and thumb against his temple. I could crush his head in an instant even with the current limits on my power, but I don’t need to. Not when other means work better. A crack forms, starting from the boy’s left eye extending all the way to his right hip, and flames pour from his left palm, engulfing the golden servant.

To the idiot’s credit he does not scream as he burns, not that he could after I'd kicked him in the chest hard enough to send him towards the high ceiling. After another two seconds in the air his ascent ceases. I kick him in the head as he comes down, destroying the priest’s podium and burying the king’s burning form in the wall.

The others are noticeably disturbed but that’s to be expected, the sons of man have fear as a grand equalizer which drives them. Another crack forms on the boy's right leg, I’ll have to finish this now.

Gilgamesh breaks away and lurches up in a rage, snapping his fingers and launching his fake arrows. The heat of my flames shield me and the clashing of metal tells me the crowd is safe.

“MONGEL! HOW DARE YOU STRIKE ME!” he bellows, swinging a golden blade at me.

I catch it, Merodach I think it’s called, the blade of kings or such nonsense. “I do not consider amoeba when I walk”, I reply, back handing him across the face.

“I have bartered with kings, faced heroes, watched civilizations rise and fall, I am he who burns at the end of the world, you are neither king nor hero, I would call you a clown but even the worst clown I respect for his effort to entertain”, I add, the boy’s face twisting into a smug grin. It’s not my intent but it is the closest expression humans can manage to what I feel.

The golden one reaches backward, undoubtedly grasping for his petty rock drill, but he finds that his gate will not open. I open the boy’s right hand, revealing the odd-looking key, and his face twists in fear, rage and horror.

“RETURN THAT, CHILD!” he screams, trying to snatch it. I pull my hand away and strike him again. The boy’s blood begins to leak from the cracks and I do as Gilgamesh had asked, grabbing the back of his head and driving my knee into his face to knock him unconscious, before following it up by jamming the key into his eye.

I turn to the others as the boy’s blood pools around me. “Before you ask, Wart you know who I am, ask the sage more if you care. Shadow child, understand this, you are neither human nor god, do not give into the idolatry. As for you, Archer, we will speak again, when we do I will tell you the truth about the path you took”, I tell them.

The woman, Sakura, furrows her brow in confusion or, perhaps, guilt and the wart nods, sheathing her sword. Archer opens his mouth to ask what I mean, but I cannot answer as the boy’s body is damaged too badly. As I leave his body resumes its lifeless slumber and I return to mine, content that the so-called king of heroes knows fear and perhaps humility. Unlikely, but I’ll settle for shutting his mouth at least.

Ok this is a thread for the purpose of discussing role playing game ideas and gauging interest in my case I have an idea, a post grail war game where the player characters are sent in by the clock tower to stop a calamity from spreading

to start off, is it just me or is black war greymon's design cooler than the original?

Everyone has one and no i'm not talking about the shipping wars people engage in with characters who've never spoken to one another. I mean that in stories like Fate and Tsukihime with multiple paths and endings which do you subscribe to as the ends for you?

it's Saber and Shirou, a basic action story with an an underlying warmth. It's a simple even handed story without complications or guilt involved.

(i'll answer any of the mechanical questions in Lantzs fanfiction round up, this is a lemon parody, none of the characters are spot on to canon as I believe none of them would jump into bed casually)

At noon I finish my shower and, once dressed, step into the kitchen. Unusually, I find it to be empty. Checking the chore board, I see a hastily scribbled notice about the church, Kirei and something about a mirage, no wait marriage. A marriage between myself and... a question mark, the words "to be decided" circled beside it.

Wait, what?!

I lock up the house and haul ass on my bike to the church. The world blurs around me into grey, black and brown as I speed up, and then wreck the tires from the hard stop. I barely manage to place the bike neatly at the side of the church before marching inside.

At first I want to start screaming, but the sight inside shuts me up immediately. Nine women in white dresses, all clearly for a wedding. My Aunt Sakura, Rin’s daughter Sakura, Sakura’s daughter Tsukasa, Rider, Caster, Aoko, Touko, Caren and Arcuied Brunstud.

“Welcome, Emiya Satoshi”, Kirei’s voice booms standing at back of the chapel. “It has been decided that, from the candidates here you must decide whom to marry. Monogamy and polygamy are supported in Fuyuki and by this church”, he says.

Archer and Rin are here, as is Gilgamesh. Marriage strangeness aside, and it is VERY strange, Gilgamesh being in the same room as Archer without a fight is- well it never happens! I need to figure a way out of this, but I need a few minutes to figure it out.

“Uh, so, if I marry you, what will I gain? Callous as a question but, since I’m on the spot, I might as well know your intentions as a partner for me.” I ask, an awkward question both in phrasing and intent but I need to get them talking.

Arcuied stands back, looks like she’s interesting in hearing the others' offers. Caren steps forward first, unexpected but, OK, I’m a little interested.

“I shall keep you in my prayers always and love you for as long as I live”, she says. The others chuckle in response until she clears her throat and speaks again. “And, you shall never again hear my father’s speeches or Gilgamesh’s advances on your mother, or attacks or pranks”, she finishes her offer.

The others get noticeably paler. Caren certainly came out strong, two-hundred points in my book.

Sakura, my half-sister, steps forward next. “The second magic, we have it now. I know how you feel about saving people, so…”, she says shyly.

I’ll admit she’s right, not just saving one world but dozens or hundreds is appealing. But, the truth is that that isn’t my reason for fighting bad guys. I’d give her one-fifty points for that offer. I’m not buying it because this whole thing is certainly caused by magic but, still....

Touko steps forward. Like Aoko-sensei, she’s a redhead, although I’m not sure it’s natural. “Me”, she says. Simple, but I can’t help but think it’s only to piss off Sensei. Zero points.

The windows are close enough to escape, but I think that would be expected.

Tsukasa steps forward. “Um, my body is transient and I can use my shadows for housekeeping”, she says. Her voice is wobbly and unsure, likely she’s resisting the spell here, that’s good. As for her offer, negative fifty points, her willingness to change herself is just excessive.

Caster steps up. “I’ll be by your side forever”, she says. It’s fairly typical but coming from Caster, given her dream and life, it means a lot. Five hundred points.

Now that I think about it running is a terrible idea, there’s no way I’d get away.

Rider fidgets and steps forward, her face glowing red. “L-love is not something simple, I can’t say I have anything to offer, except myself”, she says, struggling to look at me. OK, clearly I’m the target of the spell, Rider is cursed, if a spell is going to affect her like this I have to be the primary target.

Who would want to make these admittedly sexy women marry me? I don’t get the intent.

Sakura, Rin’s sister, steps up. “You get me, Rider and Tsukasa, and on top of that I have Tsukasa’s abilities and much more experience”, she says. Her voice is thick with lust but I have to admit her offer is a bit cheap. Zero points.

Arcuied smiles. The Princess, complete with haunting beauty and a fantastic figure filling out her dress, steps forward. “The world“, she says. Wow, just wow. A thousand points.

Aoko smiles. “I’mma buy you a fez”, she says, the others chuckle. “Fezzes are cool”, she finishes.

FUU-

DAMN IT! Fifty thousand points, everyone go home, we have a winner!

“Well OK, the problem is, ladies, that my parents and my little sister need to approve of you. So, you’ll need to get them to sign a notice showing me they approve before I chose”, I say.

They all nod happily and almost knock me over as they rush out of the chapel. Left with only Kirei and Gilgamesh I turn and leave without a word.

a thread to talk about what you play and like etcetera

in my case i love rpgs and metroidvania style games and sim games like monster rancher

This is a big ol thread for me to answer questions, develop ideas, take writing requests and muse on not only my fanfiction but fanfiction in general. basically a condensed thread for all my random and not so random activity. for the moment i'mma pitch a few ideas here and open the floor to questions.

first is a cross over with Digimon, in so much as it's an AU continuity, no magic, fate characters are kids, get digimon, full use of all the canon digimon stuff and the pseudo canon because i've played all the games watched the shows (excluding season 5) and read the outside materials. So if any of you guys out there are metal heads and interested in helping this idea form please speak up.

second is a cross over with the castlevania series, dracula, in this case crimsonmoon in the castle with the fate and tsuki characters in similar positions to the belmonts soma cruz etcetera.

third is a crossover with the smt series, haven't decided if it should be in line with the sub series of smt like raidou's games and persona or along the line of the traditional smt games like strange journey and nocturne
