Title: Cross Effects: Rebirth (2.0): The Velvet Room
Post by: Elf on May 25, 2014, 06:11:08 AM
Gabriel Umbra smirked as he walked into the plush surroundings.  A table appeared before him with a plate of doughnuts, a bottle of scotch, and a thick cut glass.  He adjusted his suit before smiling at everyone in the room and pouring himself a glass of scotch.

"Good evening everyone, I would like to welcome you to The Velvet Room," Gabriel said before taking a sip of scotch and nodding at the audience.

"This is a Free RP thread where things can happen that have no impact on the game.

"Your characters exist, but think of them existing before the actual RP started.  None of the relationships that have been formed in the RP have come to place yet.  This is a place were characters can interact, have fun, and maybe even shag without in-game consequence.

An Omake thread if you will."

He finished his glass of scotch, filled the glass again, and saluted the people in the room.

"Of course, this can change to your needs, so have fun and go wild."

He sipped at the scotch before grinning wickedly.  "Also, please feel free to shag my repressed Godmother."

Phoenix awoke, for the first time in thousands of years Phoenix opened its eyes and its mind. And with opening its mind came with it the emotions of hundreds of thousands of people.

Anger, joy, sadness, hate, curiosity, confusion, greed, generosity, hope, despair, love. All those emotions hit Phoenix at once.

Phoenix felt the pain unlike it had ever felt, to a human it would be the worse then the worse hangover they could possibly ever feel, “Scrawwwwww” (http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/dota2.gamepedia.com/d/d9/Phoenix_bird_death_defeat.mp3).

It had to get away. Expanding its wings it took to the skies. Higher, higher, and higher still, Phoenix continued to rise until it could see most of the city from its vantage.

Large pillars of stone, metal and glass, they might be suitable. No he could feel people, they seemed to be in them. How odd.

Phoenix scanned the city, looking for a suitable spot.

Abandoned districts? No, people still go there some times. Top of those odd towers made of steel beams? No, seemed to be a platform people visited close to the top. Not there either, or there, or there.

Finally it found something. It seemed to be an island with a big statue on it. People visited it, but not in too large numbers. And the highest point seemed even more isolated. Perfect.  It could even tasks spirits to keep people away.

Phoenix dove at full speed towards the green statue holding a touch with a golden flame. Reaching it in a moment it ignited its flames and sent out its spirits. Hundreds of tiny birds flew from its wings surrounding the mental flame and pressed against it, at the same time a wave of intense flames was released.

The golden metal of the flame was melted by flames and shaped by the spirits forming a golden metal nest in the touch.

With the nest ready Phoenix slowly and carefully lowered itself and sat it, making itself comfortable, all the while ignoring the screaming civilians fleeing the island. Finally content Phoenix let lose a content caw (http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/dota2.gamepedia.com/8/8c/Phoenix_bird_emote_good.mp3), and closed it eyes to calm its mind.

No matter how much it loves people it can only take so much after all.

Perhaps it will explore after it wakes up, or maybe it could find friends here.

“cawwwww” (http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/dota2.gamepedia.com/8/8d/Phoenix_bird_level_up.mp3)

Either way, it is a good day to be Phoenix.

Not so much the panicking and horrified citizens of the Nexus City though. After all how would you react if a giant firebird just made its nest on the touch of the Statue of Liberty. Then again it is probobly still not the weirdest thing that has happened.
===============================================================================================
Note: If allowed by Elf this is what happened when Phoenix arrived in the city a while ago.

Completely oblivious about the vampire's mood, Enkidu gave the newcomer a serene smile from his seat.

Sitting with his hands bound in a Gendo Pose, Karna leaned slightly forward in his chair, his eyes indicating he was talking to the vampire.

"As the modern world enjoys wordplay, I guess you could say that I really brightened up your day."

Karna took no notice that not a single person in the room laughed at his horrific attempt at this thing he heard called a "joke". Truly, what a curious invention of the spoken language.

Forest offered the androgynous man a polite nod and a smile that didn't reach her eyes.

She then stared at Karna, groaned, and said, "That wasn't punny."

"You'd be something, that's what," Forest grumbled, sinking in her seat.

Gabriel poured himself another glass of scotch and said, "Now you see why she needs a good shag.  Might keep her from getting to maudlin."

Pyramid Head wandered into the Velvet room with a box of chocolate in his right hand and a flower bouquet in his left. The butcher's garment was currently stained with the blood of the man he took the cliched date items from.Spotting his target, he walked right up to the blonde vampire.

"So, I hear that you needed a shag?"

"Is this why she never gets "laid", as they say, Gabriel?"

Tokiomi walked into the room, hoping to have so nice tea.

Then he saw the thing for a metal pyramid for a head holding box of chocolate and a flower bouquet, while being splattered with fresh blood.

"... Fuck it, I am having wine."

Rejected, all Pyramid Head could do was turn around and shuffle out, head hanging low. Today was supposed to be the big day! It figures I will only have heartbreak in the end. Well, I guess I will have to spend the night with the nurses. Again.

Outside, he tossed the blood covered flowers and box of chocolate. Jimmy died for nothing. It was Jimmy, right?

With a flash of light, the glorious Sir Bonesington appeared within the Velvet Room, his icy and yet delightfully cheery tone spreading joy through the place's atmosphere.

"Good god, I see the mood here isn't the lightest! That simply won't do, ladies and gentlemen! It's time to cool off!" he said, loud and pompous, bony features somehow twisting in humor.

With a twist of the wrist, the lich was suddenly holding a microphone.

"HIT IT, BOB!" he clamored with a grand gesture, and a piano suddenly dropped from the ceiling, the spot promptly illuminated by a spotlight, and a big, lumbering abomination of multiple arms and a silly rotting grin, wearing a bowler hat and a bowtie, fell down into the pianist's seat.

With a stretch of its meaty arms, Bob The Abomination began playing the piano with exquisite skill.

Sir Bonesington snapped the fingers of his free hand, and a pile of cadavers dropped into the middle of the room as a large, red colored Crypt Lord wearing a top hat with a flower decoration and clutching a comparatively tiny microphone in one of its claws sauntered in and began to sing.

"Good Heavens, are these human cadavers?" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJAoaCHdTJY)

"Indeed they are!"
Bonesington's fine non-existant british tongue joined in.

"What on earth do you intend to do with them?"

"To life, TO LIFE, I'll bring them! I'll bring all these dead men to life!"

A banshee in a gleaming dress also holding a microphone then appeared out of thin air as she joined the song.

"He's found a way of, reviving them!"

"Really reviving them!"

The song proceeded as the participants danced and the cadavers rose from the pile one by one to join in the merry melody.

Songbird lifted the Bird Door on the roof of the Velvet Room (The owners were tired of him ripping off the ceiling whenever he wanted to get in, you see), and thumped down to the floor below. He made a lot of friends, and was quite excited. The green-eyed Man-Bird started to flail his arms around and chirped ecstatically, trying his best to tell everyone that company was on its way right then and there.

Songbird then told them that he stumbled across another tear (The same kind of thing that brought him to Nexus City), which brought him to this underwater city. There, he met a whole bunch of men in these thick diving suits, along with a few girls with needles attached to their arms. He hit it off with everyone, and invited them to come back through the tear for the Happy Drink that the Blonde Woman is always so fond of.

Of course, no one could understand a word Songbird was saying. Everyone in the Velvet Room just smiled and nod their heads like they always do whenever Songbird tries to tell them something, long since given up on actually trying to understand him. Because of this, they weren't ready for the forty Big Daddies and six Big Sisters to suddenly burst through the front door...

A black staff, recognizable as the Brahmastra, took the shape of a microphone with a proper stand as Karna stood up and began singing in an almost chiming voice.

"He can do it, to life, to life! He brings them..."

Sir Bonesington's expression lit up as he felt a kindred soul join in this wonderful merry time! Floating across the floor of the room, he move to Karna's side and winked at him as they continued the song.

"I really do bring them to life!

I am a genius with chemicals!"

"Also polemicals; Yes it's been true there's been striiife~"

"This is really the most shocking thing I've ever heard, and I have heard a few!"

"Oh it's really not too shocking, if you were a dead man, you might like it too!"

Thank all of the gods for the knowledge of modernity he had been blessed with, though Karna, as he used it's power to keep in tact with the jolly lich.

"To life, to life, I'll bring them! With one small injection, LIKE THIS!"

"Think of it papa, we'll never die! Live for, forever~"

"My!"

"Cause I bring theeeeeeee~eeem.... TO LIFE!"

Sir Bonesington sang his frozen heart out and felt a grin melt into his face from the enthusiasm of the jolly glorious stranger in accompanying him. The good gentleman was proving to be quite an artist, and there were few things the lich appreciated more than sharing this artistic act with like minded people!

"Well, I must say this is amazing"

"I began experimenting on small animals of various kinds and perfected a solution which reanimates dead tissue"

"See, papa?"

"Hmm, mmmmyes"

"When I was sure my solution worked, I began to test it on human subjects!"

"Hear, papa!"

"Hmm, that is fascinating"

Transferring flawlessly between all 3 tone arts of this part of the song, the slightest indications of a smirk clad Karna's face as his fiery passionate singing was balanced out by the Lich's chilling charade.

"And in the end I was even able to convince Dr. Halsey that my methods were sound!"

"And here he is!"

"To life... to life, he brought me..."

"Hah, I brought Dr. Halsey to life! Of course, I first had to kill the man, with some ingenius plan~!"

"Heee just shot him!"

"Okay, it's true! I shot him... I shot him, but brought him to life!"

Sir Bonesington continued to sing in the company of the fiery warrior, spreading soon evaporating flakes of snow through the air as he changed positions to mimic the speaking roles in the song. His tone seamlessly changed between the lines as necessary, echoing out of his very happy looking skull.

"He has no reason to want to live"

"I do, she's your to give; Prudence here as my wiiiiiiiife"

"Oh papa dear, I want to marry Herbert since he has a power once reserved for God."

"I never could say "no" to you, my darling, even though young West should face a firing squad."

"To life, to life, we'll bring it!"

"A marriage--"

"For better--"

"Or worse."

"And if that life has no quality, still there's the quantity. We will bring it to life!"

To bring such joy to the Lich was Karna's only necessary reward for what he was doing.

Forest blinked then answered Henry, "Well, before I bought it and had it converted, it was actually an old paint factory that closed down.  It was a sturdy building and with a lot of work, and Lord and Lady knows how much money I got it converted.  In my world of origin I have a few other places like that here and there.  Some are converted while others I had to have built from scratch."

She then slumped against the table with a groan.  "Then there's the loneliness.  You start hanging around people who want to molest you and worse because hey, you're not alone . . .  Crazy Faerie bitches."

"What a ridiculous statement. Sex-before-marriage is among the greatest sins, only those too lost to be considered following the path of Dharma would commit as such. Many would have found such a kindly and selfless woman attractive, if not have loved her at first sight, despite her rage issues" a sharp barb of truth stabbing the heart of Law Unto Herself.

"Besides, what do you know of love, you who is but an empty corpse fighting for a cause that does the world or himself any good. You have nothing to fight for, and yet you destroy the desires of so many like you in your quest. Ridiculous."

The Chosen Undead's face darkened. "You're right. What do I know of love? My oldest memory is sitting in a cell in the Undead Asylum. I might have been happily married, I might have only sought company of wenches, or I might even had been celibate. I can't remember.

"But don't you dare call me an empty corpse! I had something to fight for, but it was all for nothing!" The next line was uttered only in a whisper, "All I wanted to do was save my land, and now everyone I know is gone..."

"A foolish journey to save what you may have never had to begin with is still foolish, no matter how heroic or selfless it is. I could have rejoined my brothers and ruled in a fairy tale-like story of eternal light for centuries. But to do so I would have given up on my friend, my oaths, my wife, my children, my retainers, my faithful servants and all the people of the kingdom for the sake of a select few who were already destined a bright future. I had a cause."

"You may have had a quest, one of selflessness and tragedy, but by saying you had a cause you are insulting each and every person with such a thing in this room. Know your own tragedy, warrior, or dwell in the shame of not even knowing your own pains' definition for all eternity."

The stinging, stoic voice dug into every ear in the room with those words, and then went silent as he procured more iced water from the crystalline glass bottle that held it.

"Of course, even a heroic journey with no point has it's own great beauty. My brothers should be all too familiar with that situation" finally came from the natural whitehead as he drank once more.

"Oh I do. Healing itself would suffice as it would be beneficial of my career," Henry replied and then hesitantly continued, "Though... I may change my mind depending how it goes."

"Excellent."

Grigori floated over to Henry and placed a hand on his right shoulder.

"I could teach you many things. Where do you want to begin?"

"Excellent."

Grigori floated over to Henry and placed a hand on his right shoulder.

"I could teach you many things. Where do you want to begin?"

"Hum, well..." the doctor crossed his arms and cocked his head to the side in thought, "Don't people usually begin at the basics?"

"Very well. Let us begin."

With that said Grigori waved her hand and materialized a large sphere of pure mana.

"This is mana, the source of all the arcane arts. It powers every spell and every ritual. For your first lesson you only need to do one thing. Master the mana, or be consumed by it. Have fun!"

With that said she clapped her hands and a waved of wind blasted Henry straight into the orb.

Henry cried in surprise as his new instructor had just pushed him inside the sphere of energy. As he passed through its thin membrane, oddly enough it lacked the texture and sensations offered by liquids and solids. It was of pure energy as he felt his very body tingling inside. Curiosity turned into panic as he felt the unpleasant feeling following after.

His teeth grit together as pain started to flood his very nerves. Eyes open wide, his vision flashed between white and red as he struggled to keep it together. His glasses fell off as he cringed from the burning sensation that wrecked his body. The brown dye on his hair receded to reveal the hidden snow white as his jaw opened, wide with elongated fangs, to scream an inhuman cry.

He tried desperately to drain what magic into his cavernous maw. But, the pain only increased as it merely served to attack him from the inside. His very own blood spurted out from his throat, threatening to drown him as it caused him to gag. Yet, after spitting out Henry continued to roar as a black substance started to engorge upon his very being.

"No! Stop! Stop! No. Nonononononononono--"

In the deepest crevices of his mind, he could feel it smiling at these turn of events.

As it finished devouring his body, the membrane shattered only to allow the lump of blackness hit the ground with a wet thud. Out from its dark mass, wings flapped out to splatter black droplets in its immediate environment. Slowly it rose up as his body (http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/29900000/Tskunes-ghoul-complete-color-rosario-vampire-fan-club-29939496-753-1062.jpg) glistened with blackness oozing slowly downwards. Its jaw opened one more time for the scream of its birth.

"WWWWRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYY!!!"

"Such a fascinating development. The arcane energies mutated him because he was too panicked to attempt to control it. However it is following the color scheme. He seems to have proficiency in the art of shadows and draining."

As a precaution Grigori formed a barrier around her before moving close to what was left of Henry.

"Are you still in there Henry?"

"WWWWRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYY!!!"

Was this "Henry's" answer. So was the fist that suddenly smashed itself right into Grigori's pearly teeth that would send the sorceress flying back in neck-breaking speeds. The barrier that had served as a buffer shattered with utter ease as it passed through. It felt no pain as what was once part of her jaw had sunk inside its hand. The creature merely squeezed it into a fist to cause the fragments to pop out while the small wounds were immediately healed up.

Grigori grimaced as the fist shattered her jaw and sent her flying back. She simply touched her face and performed a little healing magic the damage was reversed.

"Such a disappointing apprentice. If you're going to kill your master you shouldn't give them a chance to react. However I suppose I must give you credit for trying."

A cylinder of mana formed around "Henry". Designed to keep beings who used pure force in, it absorbs the energy from the strike and simply sends it right back at the prisoner.

"I suppose I'll have to wait and see if you can manage to pull your personality back together."

As she said that Grigori simply sat down and watched to see if Henry could muster the willpower to take control of his new body.

It growled as Grigori seemed to have recovered from his blow.

"Such a disappointing apprentice. If you're going to kill your master you shouldn't give them a chance to react. However I suppose I must give you credit for trying."

A barrier was formed around him, sealing off all exits much like a cage.

"Wrrry...!"

It cocked back an arm and smashed it right into the magical wall. Only to find its own arm to explode from its own power with a bloody pulp. The creature screamed angrily as it blatantly ignored the pain and saw the buffer was untouched. The stump of what was left of its arm shook violently until growing back another slick and wet arm.

"WWWWRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYY!!!"

A barrage of punches and kicks so viciously fast seemed as if blood were pouring out about him as its very limbs kept being torn apart and regenerating at the same time. The assault painted his enclosed environment with scarlet as its rage was unbridled. After its limb had regenerated again, it drew open its maw once more. With it, the particles of magical energy started to be drained down its throat until it disappeared.

"WWWWRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYY!!!"

The winged creature roared again as it charged forward to stomp Grigori in the face, again throwing her back again. It showed it learned its earlier lesson by grasping her throat before allowing any more spells to be cast. Its very fingers grasped it tightly into a vice grip that threatened to snap her neck.

Grigori narrowed her eyes, and simply let loose a blast of pure mana that knocked "Henry" away. Then she simply healed her face for the second time and spoke to "Henry".

"My patience has come to an end. I am growing tired of waiting, Henry. Come on out before I am forced to dispose of you."

Just to prove her point Grigori began to tear a portal into the Elemental Realm of Light in front of her. As the blinding light filled the room Grigori made her decision. If "Henry" decided to attack her again she would simply shove him in and call it a day. No use in expending more effort if your trees fail to bear fruit after all.

The thing was blown back as its grip had loosened to let go. As it hit the wall, dust obscured its dark figure. Bones shattered from the impact while the shards punctured inside the internal organs and out through his skin. Regeneration set in again as the body returned to its former condition before the spell.

"Wrry..." it growled again at the face of the adversity.

Just as the black-skinned creature were again continue the fight, it grasped its own head with both hands as it screamed in pain.

"Get out!"

"WWWWRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYY!!!"

GET OUT!

Its skin suddenly started to deepen its red cracks reaching around the body while continuing to writhe. The increasing sound of snapping finally reached its summit as the black shell finally shattered into pieces to reveal a gasping shirtless Henry. His feet finally gave in with knees finally hitting onto the very ground holding his broken shell.

Those versed in magic would feel an obvious change in his energy signatures. Rather of just having considerable life force, there would be the presence of a magical aura this time.

"I'm sorry about that," Henry finally gasped out. His legs struggled to move as he tried to get up. But, he just felt utterly spent.

Forest fidgeted with her fingerless glove on her left hand and said, "First off, please don't call me Bronach.  She's been dead for quite a long time.  Secondly . . . I've had sex before just physically an eternal virgin."

She snorted and said, "Hell, if I diddle myself a bit too hard I get blood all over my fingers."

"Dead? Ridiculous. Denying the name your parents gave you is a relinquishment of everything you are. Parents pass on the greatest gifts to their children, that of a life and a name. Would you throw such things away?"

Setting aside his ice-cold water, Karna focused his intent on the blond vampire.

"And besides, I was referring specifically to your physical virginity. My own mother had my father regrow her own with magic out of fright of being discovered as an unmarried woman without a hymen. Pandu would have gone mad had he learned of such a thing."

"I never knew my parents.  My mother died shortly after childbirth and my father committed suicide via battle not long after that.  Bronach means 'sorrow'.  Not the best name to pass onto a child," she replied with a scowl.

"Not until I was myself a father did I know either of mine. My mother threw me in the river at the prospect of being an unmarried mother and my father left me with but the armor I wear to this day. My name is but a reflection of that. Karna is Sanskrit for "Ear", referring to these", as Karna pointed a finger towards the huge disc-shaped earrings fused to his earlobes.

"But even with neglect and poor circumstances, no parent should ever suffer the pain of being hated by their child. You are given everything you are from birth by those parents. Treasure that name as if it was your only worthwhile possesion."

"Karna, how can you hate someone you never knew?  I don't hate my parents.  I feel sorry for them, especially what little I know of my father, but I never hated them," Forest said with a sigh, "Those who fostered me however . . . that's another story."

"As to becoming a parent myself, that's physically not possible."

"So you feel sorry for them even having you? That is only slightly better than hate. Accept what you have been given instead of pitying the people that gave you what you now have."

"At the very least, you did something decent with your gift of life instead of rotting away like any old Vetala."

"No, I mean, I felt sorry for my father for losing my mother and being away from his home land.  After she died, he felt he really didn't have a reason to live or something, or at least I was told," Forest replied, "He loved my mother enough to run from his raiding party to stay with or or whatnot."

She chuckled and added, "Hey, I didn't ask to become a vampire, but with great power comes great responsibility and all of that."

Pyramid Head decided to just swallow the rejection and move on with his life. In fact, he's going to enjoy himself! Screw this place, he's going on vacation! Arriving at the airport, he skewered some passerby for some tickets. 'The Virgin Islands, eh?' he thought upon reading the print on one, 'They won't be called that when I'm through with them.'
