Act natural? Being herself was exactly what had caused discomfort to Noel in the first place but if the blonde accepted that the Spirit Vessel could do so as well. She was blunt and straightforward. If she could do something to achieve a goal then she would. The Claws gently placed the remaining plates on the table before Erica floated up from her seat and leaned over the table with supernatural speed. Her hands, gentle but firm, held Noel's face as she leaned in and kissed her.

It only lasted for the barest of instances as her tongue pushed into the other girl's mouth, and the liquid aura caused a wonderful tingling sensation that permeated throughout the blonde's mouth before the blue haired girl abruptly withdrew. "I would like to eat your food next time you prepare some if that's fine with you."

Urthemiel

The lovely woman rested her head on Mordred's shoulder and a delicate hand played with the other woman's hair. "There is very little that you could ever do to upset me, Mordred. Understand that I delight in all of you. Every single piece. If you don't wish to cook then I will do it for you. I'm sure that it will be much better than what your roommate is capable of anyways, and I haven't made anything for quite some time. You'll indulge me in this, won't you?"

Ghost Child

It should be noted that children usually love attention and dislike being ignored. The ghosts of countless dead children merged into a single entity were no exception. His cheeks puffed up with irritation and he grasped onto the phone in the dead lady's pocket with Essence before yanking it out and proceeding to follow and swing the cellular device at the head of the redhead. "Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Are you gonna play a game with me?"

Her fist cleaved earth and sky and she reveled in the power throughout it all. Ignoring the blood dripping from her hand she casually began to walk towards the city, dragging the armor along with her by the leg. It only required the glow of silver essence to make the object easier to pull. She did not move out of anything's way, the world would relent for her. With strength or light she simply destroyed anything in her path. Blasting apart wood and crushing stone to dust. The first thing she was going to do when she made it back was eat. She was both physically hungry and at the same time Vanguard's longing for the taste beckoned her with greater vigor.

You are me. I am you. There is nothing to thank.

She laughed and the sound was both light and ooming. The question that had escaped her mouth was answered almost immediately. "Was it not already said? These souls can be held without strain and become even greater than before. We are powerful and we are alive. But 'we' is such a poor term. Let's just go with 'I'."

Alma held out her hand and toyed with the strength at her disposal for a few scant moments. The silver energy curled around her hand and the objects around her began to impress themselves into the ground under their own weight. Then she stopped and observed herself in all her splendor one more time before deciding on leaving soon. The thought resonated through the whole of them although there was no clear destination except the city itself.

"Then let us begin, Vanguard." The small ball of blue light was easily visible and the spirit medium could tell without a doubt that it was his soul as it glowed and swirled with great intensity. Alma leaned in and placed her lips against it and the energy gradually faded as she drew all that he was into herself. It tasted of bitterness and hot lightning.

The energy tingled within her body as it took its place with her own and she immediately began the process of channeling. His own soul fit perfectly against her own and divisions began to lessen and cease to exist. Branches of spirit intertwined as bordes ceased to be and she felt the surges of power as the unification hastened. Her blonde hair transformed into a stunning silver that drifted in an unseen wind and her blue eyes glowed with heavenly might. A crack of thunder and flare of lightning blasted a tree apart as the energies began to stabilize.

The spirit cloth unwound into countless blue strands and reformed back into a silky white toga with golden trimmings. Gold and silver shoulder plates with beautiful and ancient calligraphy adorned her along with a necklace of large pearls. Her feet and hands were bare but she doubted that she would ever need them with the transcendent strength flowing through her.

When it was finished an incredibly pleased look overtook her face and she examined herself for a moment. Basking in the power of every piece of her and drowning in the appreciation of sensation pouring from Vanguard. When she spoke both her voice and the deep sound of Vanguard's formed a wonderful duality. "This... this is good."

The blue eyed woman walked up to the suit of armor and rapped her knuckles on the metal. "Your soul is not directly bound to your armor, sir knight. You can tell me your name as you give me access to whatever you are directly connected to. Until I have access to that I won't be able to begin."

If smugness was a physical thing it would be pouring off of the blonde as her smile widened. "Do you really think so? If your soul is bound to that shell then I may siphon it out from its bindings. If you believe for a moment that your soul would ever overwhelm me you are solely mistaken. Mine is infinite and unending and can synergize with any other soul and even empower it. Even if that soul was god I could bear it and make it even greater. There is nothing to worry about."

She held out a gloved hand towards the armor. "Just say yes."

As the spirit medium waited she easily noticed the sound of something heavy crushing the foliage of the forest underfoot. A tinge of nervousness was both born and smothered in an instant as she waited to see what seemed to be a knight emerge from the forest. However, his appearance was an afterthought compared to the strength and size of his soul. While compared to her own it was nothing more than a puddle it still vastly outpaced that of the others she had seen so far.

A smile crossed her face at the compliments. It was more polite than her usual ones, lacking the smugness usually inherent in them. "I think that fate has been rather kind then, to allow me to be found by someone who fits my needs so well. I am Alma, a spirit medium, and I've been searching for a soul to unite with my own for a time. And your own seems to be so much more suitable than any I have encountered until now. Does such an arrangement sound suitable to you sir..."

Her lovely voice trailed off as she awaited some sort of name or alias for him to respond with.

Part of the spirit medium was debating very heatedly on why she was venturing into a disgusting and most likely dangerous forest. It was certainly a good question but not one without an answer. This city was not only irreverent and plain but it was also just as if not more dangerous than the forest itself, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to find a spirit of quality. The forest was not her first choice but they generally did hold nature spirits of some quality.

However, even as the dirt and filth was physically repelled from her clothing she was beginning to grow a bit tired. Her occupation did not usually require a lot of exertion outside of channeling and she had been walking for quite a while. With a sigh she stopped at a clearing and rested against the trunk of the cleanest tree she could find. Continuing her search was important but she could wait a moment.

The construct deflated slightly but mechanically placed the chunk of meat on Noel's plate. Her relentless pace came to a shuddering halt when to the relief of the owner of the buffet she finally stopped eating. Although her bright eyes dimmed and drifted down to look at her lap Erica's voice was steady.

"I'm sorry about being so focused on eating. It is difficult for me to divide my attention. Custom in these situations for the participants to get to know one another, correct? Then it would be appropriate for me to begin. I have no hobbies but I do enjoy eating as I have never had the opportunity to try food before this time. Usually I am not so hesitant in my speech and actions but it is difficult to speak my mind with you. It hurtsme to see you uncomfortable or upset and I never wish to be the cause."

Name: Alma

Race: Human

Age: 22

Height: 5’8

Weight: 140 lbs.

Appearance:

Physical Attributes

Strength: Human

Agility: Human

Constitution: Human

Other Abilities:

Spirit Medium: Do not mistake the powers of a spirit medium as mere possession. It is something much more potent and personal than a spirit simply taking over a body. It is a collision of souls. The entanglement of the eternal and infinite in a way that nothing short of absolute fusion can surpass. Like two trees whose branches are intertwined and are made all the more mighty because of it.

Alma can house and from there channel the spirit of any being regardless of strength and strengthens their abilities greatly to the point where they are better than their solitary selves although not by an enormous margin. Her physical form is enhanced to match their own and although her body mostly remains the same a few changes can happen. Even things such as magical ability are retained and she can call upon tools that are closely related to the being she is channeling. It is also worth noting that she is not controlled as much as she is sharing her body. While a soul can act more dominantly it is only for a short while as these swirling sources of power and self remain in a careful balance. Ending and beginning this process is not fast and does require a bit of work on Alma’s part to perfectly mesh their souls.

This process is also an incredibly personal experience. The contact of souls is an exchange of experiences and identity. To mantle another being and draw on their strength is intoxicating to Alma. Their lives and every thought and emotion they felt bleeds into her as she does to them. It is not obvious when they are still one united being but when they untangle themselves there are memories and odd feelings that remain for a little while after.

As a spirit medium Alma is also capable of viewing the souls and spirits of anything. While she usually uses this to figure out what kind of person you are she also uses it to scout out partners. It is true that all souls are infinite it is equally true that there are limitations on the power that can be drawn from it. Some beings by their nature are capable of understanding and drawing upon the full might of their soul to great effect but that is far from the norm. Alma scouts out those with especially strange or experienced souls usually, but this has changed in the Nexus. Since very few are the same as her Alma attempts to pick out those with more powerful souls. If she has knowledge of a soul she is also capable of calling it from any distance. It is not forcing them to appear but there is a pull to answer her summons which generally interests spirits or the deceased.

True Soul: What is a soul? Power and identity. There are no limitations on it. A soul is not limited by size and cannot be changed or destroyed by any power but one’s own choices. Just as with all the beings of her world Alma’s soul is infinite and eternal. Nothing can even begin to change or alter it in any fashion. She is only capable of pulling on this strength for for certain abilities that a spirit medium may use it for. This also negates any abilities that target the soul in either a benign or negative fashion.

Siphon Soul: It is a misconception that a spirit medium can only channel the souls of those who no longer have or are no longer attached to a body. That only applies to the young and inexperienced. Several stronger spirit mediums are capable of drawing out a soul from the body it inhabits and housing it. The person that undergoes this simply loses the will to do much of anything. Their body will perform only the most basic functions but will refuse to move around or even eat. However, the soul is still tethered to its body. Once Alma has finished taking in a soul and meshing with it the soul will immediately return to its body after they have been untangled.

Initiating this is done by close, physical contact. While some do it through hugs or sex Alma generally prefers doing it with a kiss. It is by no means a fast process and considering that it will be used for channeling it is almost always done by mutual choice. However, it is possible for her to do it on the unconscious. Even if she did attempt to do it forcefully for whatever reason Alma is as flimsy as tissue paper and easily manhandled. Souls that are taken without consent cannot be made to unite with her in any circumstance and the desire of a soul to escape her is such a revolting feeling that she is incapable of holding it for any more than a short period of time.

The Breath of Time: Spirit mediums are remarkably fragile beings despite their potential for immense power. Because of this they have found a few ways to express and utilize their soul to keep themselves safe. With this ability Alma draws upon her soul and exhales eternity. The endless ages of the soul slam into mortals with the weight of a world and brings their minds to a screeching halt as they try to comprehend forever. While an exceptionally powerful will can lessen the effect only one who has taken on the weight of countless years and endless time to the point where the idea of death is almost foreign to them can negate this. When channeling another spirit her work in keeping their souls perfectly together and in balance does make her incapable of using this ability. She doesn’t see it as much of a loss.

Enhanced Healing: It is true that spirit mediums are prone to dying violent deaths when attacked before being able to channel a spirit, but there were issues with them dying after a spirit left them due to the injuries sustained. This led to the development of utilising the soul to heal the physical body of injuries. While any damage will be overcome it happens at a slow but steady rate and is far from instant. It is also impossible to use it in combat while channeling for the same reason as the Breath of Time is unavailable. It is something more commonly used to avoid dying due to damage taken once the entanglement is undone.

Equipment:

Spirit Cloth: Artifacts draw upon the smallest portion of power from the soul to perform their functions and this cloth is attached to her own. Alma’s outfit is resistant to both heat and cold and whether she is standing in the arctic or on a tropical island she will always remain at a comfortable temperature. It cannot be stained as it actively repels liquids along with filth and if it is damaged it will generate new strands to weave itself back into form. It can change shape and become various different outfits. If removed it can always remake itself around her as it is anchored to her spirit.

Origin: Spirit mediums are treasured in the mortal world. Treated like the greatest nobles as they channel the souls of the dead. In the Courts of the spirits they live like gods. Under the command of greater beings lesser spirits flock to them and serve faithfully. They inhabit castles of thinking metal and mansions of sentient wood. It was inconceivable for a spirit medium as powerful as Alma to be anywhere but here. She lived in a palace of of glass so deeply blue it ached and entertained visitors from various nations and Courts. In exchange, all that was required was the channeling of spirits for various reasons. On occasions she would interact with normal humans and live a few instances of a normal life but her abilities were requested too often for anything to last.

Weakness: She is very squishy when not channeling another being. Alma is neither a runner or an athlete of any sort and that does make her little better than the most average human. When she takes on the soul of another being if their weakness is intrinsically tied to their nature it carries over. If she channels a spirit of frost fire will still do more damage to her and things like that.

Likes: Channeling powerful spirits, finer foods and clothing, killing something in melee combat, sleeping

Dislikes: Fools, people who talk too much, having to channel lesser beings, having to endure filthy conditions

Another smile graced the Spirit Vessel's face as she lifted the the piece of meat towards Noel's face and leaned in. A tinge of nervousness shook her other hand as she began to speak but the one holding the fork remained still. "Can you open your mouth? I can't give it to you if it's closed..."

It had not taken long at all for them to arrive at the buffet and her claim seemed to be true as all three of them were admitted without any trouble. Due to the nature of the Nexus it was rather easy to gather a wide selection of exotic foods that most people would never have seen before and Erica took advantage of that. The moment they had been seated the Spirit Vessel got up and floated over to the food before returning with a plethora of food. Not only way the table covered in plate and bowls s but the Mantle of Cinders became claws to hold even more delicacies.

It seemed almost impossible for someone like Erica to begin tackling this collection but she did. She relentlessly devoured a variety of meats and vegetables, drank bowls of soup dry in a single move. Her perfect mechanical movements failed her in the excitement and small spots of various sauces were smeared around her mouth. The amount of enjoyment she took out of eating and trying every flavor eventually wore off and she realized she had been ignoring Noel.

There was a short pause as she considered how to initiate. Being cordial and less polite seemed to work and making use of the environment would be logical. With a degree of shyness she speared a chunk of succulent grey meat with her fork and held it up towards Noel. "Do you want to try some?"

The spirit floated a bit closer to the pair as Kenzo let out a terrible scream and went still. He waited a few more moments and did not act until the tall man finally began to move. A lazy wave of his hand brought a few twisted phantoms of rotting food into existence and they began running around and tripping over each other. Then he twisted and spun in the air before waving at the tall man and starting to talk with him.

"Hi, Mr. Red! You look sad. Why do you look sad? Did anything bad happen?"

Urthemiel

The stunningly beautiful woman nodded graciously and took one of Mordred's arms with her own. Together they exemplified all the traits of a dragon. Power, confidence, pride, regalness, and beauty were all on display. When Urthemiel began to speak it almost seemed as if the seductive quality of her voice had increased. An almost melodious tone that enraptured the senses.

"There is no need to worry, Mordred. You more than make up for any inadequacies of a room, and unless your roommate proves to be aggressive there should be no problems. We should get to know more about each other when we get there. This city is a bit too open for it at the moment but it would be wise to learn more about each other. I'm sure you would be much more comfortable if we shared a little bit."

Ghost Child

The free spirit had floated around aimlessly after leaving the grandpa behind. He had crashed another car into a building once the fake suns vanished but was otherwise as calm and giddy as he was at the beginning of the night. It was only after a few minutes that he wandered away from the area where the suns were once shining over floated through the walls of a building into a kitchen.

Eyeless sockets instantly recognized the tall red haired man but his childish focus was not on the man's companion but the tower of plates she was holding. His features trembled with childish delight as he used a portion of his Essence to push the very top plate off the pile.

The smile on Erica's face slowly relaxed and while it would never be wide it was certainly pleasant. Her hands slowly stopped shaking and a bit of brightness returned to her blue eyes as the script circling her pupil flared once. While part of her was slightly bothered by Noel having to do anything she quickly considered that if it was something that Noel wanted that it was fine.

"There is a new buffet place a short distance south from here. The last one I went to closed down but I checked to make sure this one was still open and I paid in advance. I don't recall how much it was, but I'm sure it was enough for all of us!" There was a note of panic as she finished speaking which was only exemplified by the raised volume. She was filled with doubt the moment the words escaped her lips. What if Noel didn't like buffets? What if she didn't like the food at the buffet? Maybe she should have picked a more notable place? Despite these thoughts Erica just managed to conceal them behind a placid look. It would be wrong to make Noel uncomfortable through her own worry.
