Antonia San Nicolas

Antonia scratched her chin, trying to find a rather normal answer. "I didn't exactly have a hobby in my spare time. I barely had any to begin with... All I did was hunt and maybe eat a meal in between..."

She paced around the roof, sifting through her nocturnal memories for something to grasp onto. A shred of light amongst her monotonous life. Antonia looked down at the fraying edges of her clothing some of which were mended together. ...Was she this stupid?

"I sew," Antonia finally answered. "A rather rudimentary sewing but I can do it."

Antonia forced a smile, though, there was a hint of genuineness in the gesture, and released the handshake. She sent an acknowledging nod towards Erica.  "Well, in terms of training or entertainment?"

Antonia bit her lip, so as to prevent herself from spouting a stream of curse words and other unsightly phrases. If it was one thing she was to retain throughout this fight, it was to be her dignity. Really, she thought the battle was ever so slightly unfair; in her world, there was no need for these fancy gadgets and supernatural ability because they weren't fighting each other, they were fighting monsters.

Of course, this was her wounded pride speaking, along with some of the burns she sustained. She was going to learn some new tricks if she was to survive the Nexus.

"It was a good fight," Antonia said, extending a hand of peace. Though, her tone was tainted by bitterness. "And your skills are quite... impressive."

That was an answer she could not tolerate. Noel can pull the trigger for all Antonia cared but as long as the blood of the gods ran through her veins, she could not be defeated that easily. At the same time Noel positioned her pistol to her chest, Antonia positioned her knives to Noel's skin, answering the officer's triumphant statement with a cool smile.

As soon as she saw the translucent blue walls, Antonia knew that she was due for another explosive attack. Oh, if only there were more enemies around so she can slaughter; maybe then she would match the rather magical qualities Noel had, but that was a risk she was not willing to take. Antonia scaled the ladder leading up to the roof once again, her breathing increased by ten fold but unscathed.

A part of her knew that she was fighting a lost battle, that she was not quite ready to take Noel on. On the other hand, surrendering was a foreign word on her tongue. Antonia clenched her jaw and launched herself at Noel again, this time managing to get in striking range.

Antonia jumped to her feet and shot back a reply. "Well, that is what you have shown me thus far. Show me more, why don't you?"

And Noel did, with the example of a blue aura. She stepped back, unsure of what to do, before deciding to leap off the building with marvelous grace, landing on her feet. She wanted to change the battlefield; after all, all was fair in love and war, right? Noel was an officer, so surely she chased criminals through the city. With that thought in mind, Antonia entered an alleyway.

Antonia had to admit, Noel was quite different than the usual enemies she had encountered. Most of them were mindless creatures who attacked on instinct; Noel's actions were deliberate and calculating, as evident by the multiple explosions around her. The force was strong enough to tip her off the edge, but Antonia managed to hang onto the ledge and propel herself back up again.

It seemed like firepower was her main weapon, from what she observed. Explosions can only be used so close before they turned into a hazard for the caster, and guns were also so useful at a distance. Antonia needed to close the gap between them and so, using the ensuing smoke from the explosions, she dashed through them, and pounced on Noel.

This was going to be a fun battle.

Antonia sprinted across the the length of the building, trying to put as much distance from her and the explosion as possible to escape from the intense pressure and heat generated. She hated open field battles; too obvious and generally too dangerous since it left the threat of other attacks. But this was a different circumstance from the rest, and so, she obliged.

Once she reached the end point of the beginning, Antonia threw some of her arsenal of throwing knives at Noel and sprinted towards her.

Antonia scratched her chin, not entirely sure whether she can fulfill those two requirements. She was a high ranking officer, but even she had superiors who she had to listen to in fear of getting ejected. But as for the "team" part, well, that could use some work but its not entirely impossible. She answered yes on both accounts and then her mouth broke into a smile.

"I assure you, I won't be easily killed," she answered, flourishing her fans again. She was just ever so slightly perturbed by Noel's pistols, not because of their size but because of their impracticality, but Antonia shrugged it off. Whatever works for her. Though, she wondered what Erica would be doing. Was she going to be a part of this brawl or a spectator?

She took the initiative and moved first, dashing towards Noel, swinging behind her, and preparing to deliver a blunt blow to Noel's back.

"An entity?" Antonia's voice rose in excitement, or some might perceive it as jubilation. So, there were things in this world that were acceptable to hunt. She appreciated the fact that Erica had protected Noel; Antonia was in good company then.

She then recalled that Noel was part of the police force of the Nexus. Well, technically Antonia was part of the police force of her own world because the military was the police and it would channel her violent tendencies into something useful to society. As of yet, she didn't see any consequences of joining and so, she asked if she could.

"I would very much like to," Antonia said, beaming. For the first time, in a long time, she was glad to have some companionship. Although it was going to be hard to assimilate in such an...accommodating society, she had a feeling that she would not be returning home soon. Oh, she couldn't even take a walk before encountering some eldritch creature that would ruin the entire day.

As Noel floated back to the ground, Antonia decided to jump off, rolling just in time before hurtling to the ground to prevent any serious damage. She sprung up back to her feet, tucking stray parts of her hair back into their place and smoothing out her clothes. Hm, what was a great conversation starter? Antonia didn't have much experience with this but then again, she didn't need to. Hmm...

"How did you two come to meet? You and your girlfriend seem to have contrasting personalities."

Antonia hesitated before answering. They seemed nice enough people, and their reactions to her incorrect behavior was justified, but she could not shake off this clinging paranoia. She preferred to work alone for a reason, and that was because it always ended in bloodshed. Either a hunter was slaughtered, or became the hunted. Working alone eliminated both possibilities.

But this place was not like home. Perhaps Antonia can reclaim part of her humanity here. She smiled, a genuine one that shined as bright as the sun, and said "Yes. Where should we go first?"

"Really?" Antonia raised an eyebrow. "That's a... new concept." She was going to have to adapt, wasn't she? What a bother that was going to be. It took her a decade to ingrain these hunter instincts into her mind and heart, and it was certainly going to take more than that to get them out. The only other hobby she had was sewing but her skills were only mediocre and it didn't satisfy her as much. "Well, thank you for letting me go. Do you recommend any other outlets for hunting, then?"

Now that she thought of it, maybe hunting people wasn't the most morally upstanding activity that she could do. To the outside world, it was barbarous and Antonia knew that it was right. But at this point, hunting was simply who she was and what she stood for.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Noel and..." Antonia waited for the other girl to introduce herself, but she just said that she was her girlfriend. Fair enough. At least they had faces she could recognize in a crowd. Noel's apathy towards Antonia's presence didn't bother her; none of the prey she hunted were fearful of her, initially at least.

She crossed her arms and straightened her back. "I'm new to the Nexus, and I was looking for something fun to do. Where I'm from, the only entertainment I had was a game of cards and the thrill of the Hunt. The former is not available, so I decided on the latter. I wasn't going to kill that person - that would be wholly unnecessary. No, it was simply a way to occupy my time until I found something better. And for the time being, I think I have. Any more questions?"

Antonia's eyes couldn't help but blink slowly. Her nerves told her to send them to the next life, but the more logical route would to stop. They were an unassuming pair, but the girl with the blue hair's (what an unusual color. Too bright for her tastes) statement irritated her. "It would've been inflicted already." Pah. Who did they think they were? Gods? They must be remnants of their power then, to assume such a throne.

But, Antonia obliged anyway, taking them seriously. A new place calls for new actions. With a huff, she put her fans back into their places and extended a hand. "Antonia San Nicolas. Huntress. I ask again - what are your names?"
